Winter storm warning in effect

National Weather Service: Significant storm to impact area

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Thursday afternoon - meaning significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected - for all counties in Greater Cincinnati (including southeastern Indiana and northern Kentucky) from Friday at 4 a.m. through Saturday at 6 p.m.

Precipitation started to change from sleet and freezing rain to all snow in advance of Friday's evening rush hour; occasional snow continues into Saturday afternoon.

Total snowfall accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected in Hamilton County, in addition to light ice accumulations. Accumulations in Butler and Warren counties could be more like 6 to 8 inches.

On Friday evening, the overnight low is expected to be in the upper 20s.

Saturday's high temperature is expected to be near the freezing mark. The low will be in the teens.
