Faces without Places to Host 15th Annual Yellow Bus Ball

Newport, KY—Faces without Places—an organization focused on supporting homeless children in Greater Cincinnati—will be hosting their 15th annual Yellow Bus Ball on Friday, Nov. 2 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Newport Syndicate.

The Yellow Bus Ball is FwP’s largest fundraiser of the year, and 250 people are expected to attend. Tickets for the ball are $100 and the evening includes food, drink, games, silent and live auctions, and musical entertainment by the Sly Band.

A large majority of the money raised during the Yellow Bus Ball is used to fund the Yellow Bus Summer Camp—an 8-week camp for homeless children in the Cincinnati area.

“The Yellow Bus Ball is critical because we have to have money to pay teachers and buy supplies,” says Board Member Karen Fessler. “We can get grant money for field trips but we need this fundraiser to really be able to put on a summer camp to the degree that we have always done it.”

The organization provides services to over 3,000 children each year but they hope to extend their reach even further from the city in an effort to support thousands more children in Ohio and Kentucky.

“The most important part of the program,” says Fessler, “is that we get kids out of shelters, we get kids off the streets and we show them that education is a way to experience a larger world.”

Faces without Places is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1998 to help students experiencing homelessness keep up with their education. Since its creation, the program has raised over $1.5 million to help Cincinnati children.
