Editor’s note: Guest blogger Katie B. recently had a special backstage experience with Disney on Ice presents 100 Years of Magic show in Dayton and wanted to share it with Q102 listeners. The show is coming to U.S. Bank October 30-November 3, 2013.
I recently had the amazing privilege to get up close and personal at Disney on Ice presents 100 Years of Magic. My husband, daughter, some friends, their two kids and I got the chance to have an amazing night out full of magical fun, thanks to Q102! Our night started with a special meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse where we got hugs and photos and even a wonderful gift bag for each kid that was full of goodies!
Next we were led to the area where we could find our seats. We were in the front row! The kids were so excited to see how close we were, and seeing the beautiful castle quickly had them discussing who they thought might come out and who they might see during the show.
We had plenty of time to stroll through the gift stands and grab a bite to eat before we settled into our seats for the show! There were such a variety of gifts that we were able to find something special for all three kids to take home! My girl, Josie, is a fan of Jessie so we bought her a Jessie hat. Auri loves princesses and got a Snow White figurine, while little Jace received a nice light-up Buzz Lightyear!
The show was amazing with beautiful choreography, costumes and music. The kids were jumping up and down and squealing excitedly in their seats. My favorite may have been the elaborate “It’s a Small World” scene where they include dancing and music from many different countries and the coordinated movements of so many skaters! The girls saw all of the characters they knew and loved, including Jessie and the Princesses, of course. Even little Jace was enamored by the show and pointing out his favorites to the gentleman next to him! It was so heartwarming to see their excited smiles and getting the warm hugs from my daughter, saying I am the best mommy in the world!
At the very end, the ushers informed us that the kids could go out close to the rink and the characters would greet them and give out high fives. This was just the icing on the cake. What an incredible experience we had! It was truly magical for the kids, and for the adults. It brought back the excitement and magic I remember from growing up and watching these movies and characters and I got to see that same wonder in my child’s eyes! We will never forget it!
