Selena Gomez disses Lorde
Selena Gomez accuses Lorde of “not supporting other women”.
The 21-year-old received criticism from the 17-year-old New Zealander for her song lyrics in Come & Get It, with Lorde telling Rolling Stone she was “sick of women being portrayed this way”.
Lorde told the magazine she considers herself a “feminist”, but Selena doesn’t agree with her fellow pop sensation.
“That’s not feminism. [Lorde is] not supporting other women,” Selena told Flaunt magazine.
“That’s my honest opinion, that’s what I would say to her if I saw her. I actually covered her song in all of my shows that I’ve done so far. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue that.”
Selena says she is willing to admit she has “made a lot of mistakes” in her past.
But the star claims her oversights have contributed greatly to the woman she is today.
“Obviously I’ve made a lot of mistakes because I’m human and I go through all of it,” Selena explained.
“I do think you do you have to make your own mistakes and they make you who you are.”
Lorde has stood by her Rolling Stone commentary about Selena’s song.
The teenager assured she didn’t intend to offend anyone and was only speaking her mind.
“I think there’s a funny culture in music that’s only happened over the last 15 years, and that is haters,” Lorde told MTV News earlier this month.
“That if you have an opinion about something in music which isn’t 100 per cent good, you’re a hater, even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique.
“I mean, I don’t think I say anything that isn’t backed up.”
