Jess Hart: I invented the top knot
Jessica Hart insists she invented the top knot.
The Australian model has featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine and Australian Vogue after being scouted aged 15. She has also modeled for the likes of lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret.
While at the Wall Street Journal’s Technology Innovation Awards last night, which celebrated people who tackle big problems in the world, the 27-year-old beauty shared her invention.
“The top knot. I’ve been doing that for nine years now,” she told nymag.com. “I hate washing my hair, so I’d always just put my hair on top of my head. Now it’s this huge thing. But I really feel like I was the first.”
She continued to admit she feels annoyed now it has become a trend.
“Yes! I was a little bit,” she laughed. “And other people would claim that someone else had been the first person, and I was like, ‘There’s no way.’”
When probed about the secret behind her hairdo Jessica shared her top tips. She recommends people do it themselves rather than seeking professional help.
“First of all, I do it myself. A lot of other people have it done,” she explained. “I think there’s an art form to it. One day I might do a video on how I do mine. I only do it with one hair band, no pins. I don’t think many other people could create the look with just one hair band.”
Along with her hairstyle, Jessica is known for her gap-tooted smile. She previously revealed she used to be insecure about her feature.
“It wasn’t until I got older that I really got comfortable with it,” she recalled. “When I was younger, it was the same size as it was now – it was a little more apparent. As I’ve got older I’ve grown into it, and it’s become part of me.”
