Jon Voight has spoken of his pride in daughter Angelina Jolie.
The 74-year-old actor, who had Angelina with his late ex-wife Marcheline Bertrand, has experienced a strained relationship with Angelina in the past, but is now close to her and his six grandchildren.
Speaking at the Children of Chernobyl’s Children At Heart Gala John couldn’t hide his admiration for his actress daughter, who underwent a double mastectomy earlier this year after discovering she had a faulty gene.
“She’s doing good,” he told OK! Magazine. “Angie’s doing great. I’m very proud of her.”
Jon also expressed his pride in the brood of grandchildren he has through Angelina and her partner Brad Pitt; Maddox, 12, Pax, ten, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, seven and five-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
Although he won’t get to see them this Christmas while they’re with Angelina in Australia, he’s still excited about treating them to their favourite toys.
“The grandchildren are just terrific,” he told the publication. “I spent three hours in [toy shop] FAO Schwartz yesterday, just looking around, just to sniff it out, to say ‘what about this? What about this? If I get one for this, then …’ That’s the kind of guy I am. I love that place.”
With so many grandchildren to buy for, it could be hard for the Transformers star to know what to purchase, but thankfully Angelina is on hand to help.
Jon explains the simple gifting rules for the Jolie-Pitt offspring.
“It’s hard for me,” he confessed. “For everybody, I get one item, just so that nobody gets something different. Of course, you have to know each of their personalities. But Angie takes care of that stuff. They’re all taken care of very nicely.”
