Maggie Gyllenhaal heading to Broadway

Maggie Gyllenhaal will make her Broadway debut in the fall.

The Oscar-nominated actress has signed on to appear opposite Ewan McGregor in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of The Real Thing, according to Playbill.

The outlet reports previews of the Tom Stoppard play will begin October 2.

A spokesperson for the theatre company announced Tuesday Maggie would take on the role of Annie, an actress fighting to free an imprisoned Scottish soldier.

Ewan, who is also making his Broadway debut in the production, will star as a playwright named Henry who engages in an affair with Maggie’s character, threatening their marriages.

Sam Gold is directing.

The Real Thing is scheduled to open October 30 and will run through January 4, 2015, with tickets going on sale this summer.

The full cast has yet to be announced.

The Real Thing previously won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1984, two years after its debut at the Strand Theatre in London.

Maggie has a busy few months ahead before she begins work on the revival.

She will appear later this year in Lenny Abrahamson comedy drama Frank, about a wanna-be musician.

She’s also set to star in BBC/Sundance original series The Honourable Woman.

Ewan also has several projects in the works. The Trainspotting star can next be seen in Gavin O’Connor Western Jane Got a Gun, scheduled for release this summer.
