Lauren Conrad: I love flirty wedding dresses

Lauren Conrad loves “flirty and playful” wedding dresses.

The former The Hills star hand-picked a selection of 25 bridal gowns for renowned American wedding magazine Martha Stewart Weddings and explained why she liked each of the different styles.

While the bride-to-be didn’t choose a particular gown for her upcoming nuptials to fiancé William Tell from her compilation, she gave away strong hints as to what she is looking for in a bridal design.

“In high school, I wanted to design clothes and own a boutique. Bridal is unique because of the quality of the fabrics and the silhouettes – it’s such an important part of someone’s big day, and I always thought that was cool,” she told Martha Stewart Weddings before admiring a Romona Keveza strapless, pearl-covered dress. “I love tea-length wedding dresses. I feel like this one could be dressed up with a color. You could do a little pop-of-color shoe or a bright lip. You could have fun with this dress.”

Going through her selection of bridal couture, with designers ranging from Vera Wang to Carolina Herrera, style blogger Lauren revealed she likes a voluminous silhouette and unusual detailing.

The 27-year-old, who has designed two clothing ranges herself, took a particular liking to an Elizabeth Fillmore creation made from organza and ostrich feathers.

“OK, I love this one. It’s flirty and playful – this would be great on a young bride”, she explained. “Plus, it’s already styled! You do nothing to this dress. Anything more is going to look crazy.”

Another favorite of Lauren’s was a more classic, yet fashion-forward, Angel Sanchez crinkle-silk ball gown with a bateau neckline.

“I haven’t seen a lot of this textured fabric in bridal, and I like the faux boning,” she said. “I usually go for ‘less is more,’ but I gravitate toward larger skirts because there are so few occasions when you can wear one, so why not?”
