Vera Wang says bridal gowns can be worn for “anything”.
The designer has become a favorite for women looking to walk down the aisle in something extra special. She showed off her latest collection of white wedding dresses via a video on her website, despite most other designers deciding to take to the bridal runway in New York for Bridal Week, which ran April 11-13.
“It was meant to be dreamy and edgy, because girls today are edgy,” she explained to hellomagazine.com. “I don’t think of bridal anymore as a niche. Hopefully, people will realize that these dresses can be worn for anything. They just happen to be white.”
As part of her “edgy” collection, Vera showed bridal gowns that consisted of a cropped white top, paired with a more traditional full skirt. There were also long tulle dresses shown in the clip and beautiful lacy creations.
Vera’s video was shot by Gordon Von Steiner and features models Nastya Sten, Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Elisabeth Erm and Sophie Touchet.
“The opportunity to create a visual and expressive experience of the clothes, as interpreted by my fashion vision, is a whole new way for me to communicate with not only brides, but women everywhere,” Vera smiled to nydailynews.com.
“In this instance, bridal becomes the artistic vehicle to advance my love of fashion in general. I hope you will enjoy this new experience.”
Carolina Herrera, Jenny Packham and Marchesa all showed their latest bridal wear during the Spring 15 shows in the Big Apple over the weekend.
