Nicole Kidman says love is the “core emotion”.
The 46-year-old actress is married to country star Keith Urban and together they have little girls Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. She also has adopted children Isabella and Connor with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Nicole’s latest role on the big screen is actress turned princess Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco, which documents the royal leaving her movie career behind and marrying Prince Rainier III.
Asked whether she would give up acting for love if she had to, Nicole didn’t think twice about her answer.
“I have never had to; I would, absolutely. I wouldn’t even think twice about it because I would hope there is something else I can do, and I would find something else to do. I think love is the core emotion, and I have certainly existed without that in my life, and it’s a very empty life,” she told movies.ie. “I have always said; when I won the Oscar [for The Hours] I went home and I didn’t have that in my life. That was the most intensely lonely period of my life.”
Nicole continued to explain the relationship between her personal life and movie stardom. While one good thing may happen with her career, the same may not be said for her antics away from the camera.
“I have also said, strangely for me, the greatest highs have coincided with the greatest lows; my professional highs have come at times when I have had personal lows and they have collided,” she added.
“That’s always aggravated me; that it’s gone that way. I hope that one day I can have professional high and personal high [laughs]. I don’t know whether that’s ever possible, but I would never think twice about it. I also think that once you have children, the love of a parent… You suddenly have the emotion of being able to die for someone…”
