If there’s one day in your lifetime you want perfect skin, it’s surely your wedding day. After all, waking up on the morning of your big day with dull skin and an angry looking spot is hardly the recipe for glowing bridal chic.
Thankfully there are plenty of ways to prepare in advance, to make sure your nuptials are skincare emergency free. And the best time to pamper your skin is at night. That’s the advice from top facialist Sarah Chapman.
“A great deal of your skin’s natural rejuvenation process takes place at night,” she explains.
“Applying specific night treatments that are rich in high performance actives helps the skin to take advantage of its own night time cell renewal process and its benefits. Night is the time to repair, not defend,” she adds.
Every dermatologist will attest that a well-rounded diet will better support healthy skin and help keep your complexion in excellent condition. There are foods to keep skin hydrated and soft, and foods that protect skin cells from damage. And there are even foods that might hurt our skin.
“In the run-up to your wedding, cut out sugars and reduce dairy, but eat plenty of good fats.
“Make sure to keep the skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and also using a good moisturizer – don’t ignore moisture as an oily skin can be lacking in it.
“If you suffer from excess shine, introduce the use of Vitamin A skincare to work on balancing the sebum production,” Sarah advises.
For bright, sparkling eyes Sarah insists hydration is key.
“Drinking plenty of water will help you avoid bags under the eyes. Also, soak cotton pads in rosewater and store in the fridge to cool and use the day before and on the morning of the wedding,” she adds.
