Alba’s ‘military baby shower’

Jessica Alba has put on a baby shower for military wives in honor of Independence Day.

America celebrates the national holiday on July 4th and many citizens will party at a barbecue with fireworks and a beer in-hand.

According to ET Online, this year the actress decided to host a baby shower for pregnant military wives whose husbands are serving overseas. The event has been dubbed “Operation Shower”.

Jessica’s father was a member of the United States Air Force and she moved around a lot as he was stationed in multiple locations.

The Sin City star, who is now mother to two young children with her husband Cash Warren, recalls how difficult it was to be without her father for so long while he was away on missions, as she was quite a sickly little girl.

“It was tough on the family,” Jessica recalled to ET. “My mom had to spend a lot of nights in a cot next to my bed in the hospital. [But] I’m appreciative of the medical services that my parents had access to.”

Jessica co-founded The Honest Company with business partner Chris Gavigan in 2012. The enterprise creates and sells non-toxic household products to families.

She hopes Operation Shower will help people make healthy parenting choices.

“I think as a mother we all can relate to wanting to provide the safest and healthiest environment for our kids,” Jessica said.
