Luke Hemsworth: I’m no celebrity

Luke Hemsworth

Luke Hemsworth isn’t seeking fame.

The Australian star has been acting since his early twenties and was a regular on TV show Neighbours until 2008.

While he loves the craft, he’s seen how younger brothers Liam and Chris have to contend with the glare of the spotlight and doesn’t want to deal with that.

“I actually think [fame's] the part you don’t want. I don’t think most people decide to become an actor because they want to be followed around all the time… I see it when I’m with my brothers and I don’t get it. I don’t understand why someone wants to take a photo of us getting out of a car or on the beach. I think that’s really weird,” Luke sighed to Empire magazine.

While some may not be as familiar with Luke’s name as they are his famous siblings’, the hunk reveals it was actually he who first made the move to become an actor.

As the older brother, he managed to land jobs first.

“I honestly couldn’t tell you which of us was the first one interested in acting. I started first [with a role in Neighbours], but that’s because I’m older.

“But we were three pretty boisterous kids with a mom who loved showing us movies – she’d show us It’s a Wonderful Life every year and a lot of Marx Brothers – and a lot of energy to work off. It had to go somewhere!” he laughed.

Luke’s latest project, gritty sci-fi drama The Anomaly, hit cinemas last week and was mostly shot on location in London.

While the 32-year-old enjoyed the British capital, he doesn’t think he could live there permanently as he’d miss surfing too much.

“Most of my stuff was shot in East London. Bit different to what I’m used to but… interesting. I could probably live in London if you had better surf. Didn’t find a lot of big waves here,” he smiled.
