Give Back Tuesday: Kroger’s Zero Hunger Zero Waste Initiative 3/13

Give Back Tuesday

{Pick 6}

Today I was joined by Erin Rolfes, Corporate Affairs Manager for Kroger! I really enjoyed chatting with Erin today during the Pick 6… She had a very insightful perspective on the reality of hunger and food waste in our community.

In September of last year Kroger launched the Zero Hunger Zero Waste plan to help accelerate food donations. They hope to provide three billion meals and eliminate food waste in all Kroger stores by 2025.

Did you know more than 40% of the food produced in the U.S. is uneaten, yet 1 in 8 Americans struggle with hunger? Food waste undermines food security and Kroger’s Zero Hunger Zero Waste plan can help. They have many goals they hope to achieve in the next seven years – View their plan below 🙂

Their Purpose:

Kroger’s #ZeroHungerZeroWaste plan includes bold commitments that reflect their Purpose: to Feed the Human Spirit. They are counting on associates, customers, partners and other stakeholders to help shape innovative solutions. Because when it comes to hunger and waste, zero is the only acceptable answer.

Don’t forget to “Round Up” with your cashier when you’re checking out at Kroger. They will round up your total by one dollar – That extra dollar will go straight to a local food bank to help a family in need.
