Grandma approves! Queen Elizabeth that is. She’s officially given her consent for the Royal wedding of her grandson Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. Phew! I was soo worried.
Buckingham palace shared the “Instrument of Consent” document. And this isn’t just any old sheet of paper. It’s drafted by the Crown Office, handwritten and has multiple designs on the document that represent Prince Harry & Ms. Markle.
For example for Prince Harry’s side of the family it features: a red dragon, the symbol of Wales, and 3 tiny red escallops from the Spencer family of arms.
And for Meghan; A rose, the national flower of the United States and 2 golden poppies, the state flower of California, where Meghan was born.
And if that doesn’t sound official, the document actually reads like this (clears throat), “NOW KNOW YE that We have consented and do by these Presents signify Our Consent to the contracting of Matrimony between Our Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales, and Rachel Meghan Markle.”
I mean Prince Harry’s full name takes up the whole document, but it’s fine.
Bearing The Queen’s signature, the Instrument of Consent records Her Majesty’s consent to the Marriage of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle. #RoyalWedding
