Congrats to Lee Dewyze on winning American Idol! I prefer to say he won as 1A and Crystal finished 1B. Listen below to hear what Crystal had to say after the show backstage about her fans, her son, on her chances of winning and more.

å
I thought Crystal had a huge comeback week. She showed a ton of passion and showed off her vocal chops in a way we haven't seen in a while. They each did three songs. They were allowed to choose their own favorite from the season, the executive producer of American Idol chose one song for each of them to sing and a third song that will be released a single if they win.
I thought Crystal did a better job on her first two songs but Lee's cover of U2's Beautiful Day was a better than Crystal's potential single.
TMZ had this to say before ths hwo aired last night about rehearsals "Our spies at the "American Idol" rehearsal today say Crystal Bowersox was so nervous she forgot the words to the song she'll release if she wins tomorrow night. And Lee DeWyze got ticked off after he got hit with a violin bow."
Who do you think will win tonight?
(usa today) Simon Cowell appears on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show today. He apologizes for announcing his departure from American Idol on the same day that Ellen started, and Ellen gives explanations for the "behind the scenes" antics that sparked Simon's on-camera behavior this season.
Also, during the interview, Simon picks Lee DeWyze for the win: "If you'd asked me five or six weeks ago, 100 percent I would have said Crystal [Bowersox]. But now I've changed my mind. I think Lee is going to win."

(la times) It's upfronts time for the TV industry, meaning the networks are rolling out plans for their most popular programs in hopes of luring in big advertising dollars.
Among the announcements made by Fox early Monday morning: The 2011 season of "American Idol" will see some tweaking to the 10-year formula, including more performances and shorter elimination episodes -- 30 minutes, to be exact. But still no word on a possible successor for judge Simon Cowell. "There is no bigger question for the summer," said Peter Rich, the chairman of entertainment for Fox Networks Group. "It's something you have to do right."
(zapit) The "American Idol" host is scheduled to visit queen of talk Oprah Winfrey on her show Thursday, May 20 to say so long to the hit FOX reality show before heading to "The X-Factor."
"After 9 years as the judge everyone loves to hate on American Idol, Simon Cowell is saying goodbye," states Oprah.com. "In an exclusive farewell interview, he opens up about why he decided to leave and what comes next."
Then, there have been rumors that Cowell, 50, will be knighted at the Queen's birthday honors to be held on June 12, reports the UK's Mirror.
Supposedly, he'll be recognized for his contribution to Britain's entertainment industry, but also for his humanitarian works, such as arranging the fundraising CD for the Haiti earthquake victims.
How does Sir Simon sound?
(la times) No sooner has one rumor about Simon Cowell's potential replacement died -- Elton John is said to have turned down a -million offer to slide into Cowell's seat at the judges' table -- than another has taken hold.
Harry Connick Jr., whose album sales reportedly got a big boost following his mentor stint on "Idol" last week, says he wouldn't dismiss an offer to be an "American Idol" judge, should one happen to come his way. (Both Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, you may recall, told reporters earlier this week that they didn't think Connick would be interested in a judge spot on the show.)
"I'd consider it ... " Connick told the Washington Post's Reliable Source column at an event in D.C. on Tuesday when asked about the support building for him to become an "Idol" judge. "But they haven't asked me."
