"Ellen said on her show wed am that she didn't agree w/some of the cuts. So she is going to have some of those cut on her show. One girl is suppose to be on next week. GO ELLEN!"

Tuesday night American idol defeated NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics. However last night the Olympics defeated American Idol. It marks the FIRST time since 2004 that American Idol has lost a 30 minute time slot!
The Olympics averaged 30 million viewers while Idol had 18 million viewing. Last night featured Medal winning performances from Shaun White, Lindsay Vonn and others.
USA! USA! USA!
Chris Golightly, who was originally selected as semi-finalist. According to reports, Chris was disqualified February 17, 2010, after already being told he was in the top 24, over an old contract.
The contract expired, but they disqualified him for not telling them. He was later replaced by Tim Urban at the last minute of the last part of Hollywood Week
I am really enjoying this season so far of American Idol. Here are a few random thoughts on last night's show.
* LOVE...Crystal Bowersocks, Andrew Garcia, Katy Stevens, Thaddeus Johnson and like Casey James.
* Out of the 7 we know that are going to make it through so far to the final 24, only a couple I think have a real shot. Again we are VERY early in the competition but thats what I am feeling so far.
* I love seeing the look on the contestants faces when they make it to the final 24!!
* I think hiring Ellen is one of the most brilliant moves ever pulled in Hollywood. I wondered how she would fit in...but I think she has been a great addition to the show.
* After hearing half the people sing Man in the Mirror on Idol last night, I wished most of them hadn't.
* Seemingly simple songs "Mraz I'm Yours" are obviously not easy to sing as we saw last night.
* I liked the new format of having the judges sit on the stage with the finalists when they told them if they had made the final 24 or not.
* Mary (the monster) Powers did not make it through to the next round. Over confident? Karma? I loved her first audition but she turned ugly and did not play well with others.
Ever wonder what Chris Daughtry would look like with hair? He played a concert in Fla recently and sported his new growth. I think it looks cool what do you think?
Tonight and tomorrow night we will find out who the final 24 are for American Idol. Listen below for a sneak preview of tonight's show.
There is a change this season in Hollywood Week. In seasons past we had to wait until tomorrow night and all 24 finalists were announced. But I just found out that they are going to announce some of the final 24 contestants tonight and the rest will be announced tomorrow night during the show.
American Idol airs tonight @ 8p on Fox19 and on Wednesday night @9p. I will be on Fox19 with Rob and Shelia on Wednesday morning at 8:35am to talk about tonight's show.

Big Mike had a great week on Idol and in real life. His wife gave birth to their first child and he advanced to the next round of the Hollywood Week.
Big Mike is rumored to be the contestant that Idol producers wanted to kick off because his father leaked the info that his son had made the final 24.
Random Facts about Big Mike:
* He describes himself as a mixture of Gnarls Barkley, Outcast and R. Kelly.
* Both Michael's parents are pastors.
* He played Division I football at the University of Central Florida.
