CNN.com has the annual "be patient, there are a lot of people flying this weekend" story ... but it's definitely worth a look if you're headed to the airport because a lot happens in a year and there is good information that's new and relevant for this year.
The number of people traveling this holiday weekend is expected to increase slightly compared with last year, although those traveling by air likely will decline, according to AAA, the motorist and traveler organization.
The AAA, which surveyed 1,350 American households, projects that 38.4 million people will travel over the holiday weekend, up from 37.8 million last year.
The number traveling by air is expected to decline to 2.3 million, the automobile association said. In 2008, 2.5 million people traveled by plane for Thanksgiving.
AAA said the slight increase in the number of Thanksgiving travelers from last year reflects improved consumer confidence as well as "a growing sense among many consumers that the worst of the global economic crisis is behind us."

Thanksgiving weekend is always one of the highest grossing weekends of the year at the box office. Many studio films are released on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in order to take advantage of the long weekend. Here are some links that should prove helpful if you're trying to get a better idea of which flicks will be key players this holiday season.
Opening Wednesday were "Old Dogs," "The Road," "Ninja Assassin," and "Me and Orson Welles."
Here's what imdb.com says about all of them.
Here was the Top 10 at the box office for Friday through Sunday in the U.S. and Canada, according to estimated ticket sales.
1. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," .5 million.
2. "The Blind Side," .1 million.
3. "2012," million.
4. "Old Dogs," .8 million.
5. "Disney's A Christmas Carol," million.

A local gay rights group considers the Bengals' signing of Larry Johnson a "slap in the face."
There's even a post on TMZ about it.
From the post:
TMZ spoke with Lesley Jones, executive director of Equality Cincinnati, who tells us "We do not think that would be a favorable decision on the part of the Bengals.
We would see this as a slap in the face to all the work we've done for equality and LBGT (lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender) rights in Cincinnati."
[The Bengals] must take action to prove that they support equality and LBGT rights in the city."

"The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this 'news' magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant," Palin wrote. "The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist, and oh-so-expected by now."
"If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention – even if out of context," Palin also said.
And check out the text that accompanies the cover photo ... I'd imagine she probably had a problem with that too ![]()
