DJ Premier: Guru recovering after surgery

Rapper suffered heart attack

Guru, a founding member of the rap group Gang Starr, underwent successful surgery and is recovering, according to former partner DJ Premier, though he's still under a medically induced coma.

"Good news: #guru surgery was successful, keep sending him love," Premier posted Tuesday.

Later he posted this Tweet: "#Guru still in a med induced coma, he's breathing with machine help. And please reporters, don't copy without care. #Pray."

The 43-year-old Guru suffered a heart attack and fell into the coma after going into cardiac arrest over the weekend.

DJ Premier said in a radio interview that Guru was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday.

Guru, who was born Keith Elam, rose to fame as the vocal half of Gang Starr, the duo he formed with DJ Premier.

Hall & Oates bass player dies

'T-Bone' Wolk was 58

Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, who performed with many musicians but was best known as the longtime bass player for the band led by Daryl Hall and John Oates, has died. He was 58.

Wolk died Sunday in New York, hours after completing a recording session with Hall, who was working on a solo album, according to the duo's manager, Jonathan Wolfson.

Wolfson said the cause of death was believed to be a heart attack.

Wolk had been scheduled to appear Monday night on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" with Hall and Oates.

A busy session musician, he appeared on scores of recordings with such varied artists as Bette Midler, Billy Joel and Avril Lavigne.

He played bass on several Elvis Costello recordings, accordion on Robert Palmer's "Heavy Nova" and guitar on Carly Simon's "Coming Around Again."

Lil Wayne begins jail term

Sentencing had been postponed twice

Rapper Lil Wayne was sentenced Monday to a year in jail in New York City for having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007.

He was taken away in handcuffs to begin his term immediately.

Last week, Lil Wayne's jail term was postponed for a second time because of a fire in the courthouse where he was due to be sentenced.

Frampton, YES to play Red, White & Blue Ash

Festival will be held in new location

Peter Frampton and YES announced a 25-city national summer tour that will visit the Red, White & Blue Ash Festival on July 4.

The tour will kick off in early June in Connecticut and run through mid-July.

Frampton and YES did a stadium tour together in 1976.

Fire shuts down Lower Manhattan court

Rapper Lil Wayne's jail term in a gun case was postponed again Tuesday because of a fire in the courthouse where he was due to be sentenced.

The blaze shut down a Lower Manhattan court for the day, postponing the rap star's court date among other proceedings.
