UC goes to overtime with Gonzaga, suffers first loss

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season, falling 61-59 in overtime to Gonzaga in a hard-fought championship game of the Maui Invitational.
Freshman Lance Stephenson led the Bearcats with 15 points. Withrow grad Yancy Gates was the only other UC player in double figures with 11.
The Bearcats, who shot just 35 percent from the field, fell to 4-1 on the season. The Bearcats held the Bulldogs - who improved to 5-1 - to just 19 points in the first half. Gates scored 17 points and added 13 rebounds to lead UC to a 69-57 upset of No. 21 Maryland in the semifinals.
