Report: Harris may host Emmys
Newspaper: Actor close to signing

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that "How I Met Your Mother" star and two-time Emmy nominee Neil Patrick Harris is "thisclose" to signing to host the 61st annual Emmy Awards.
The show will air Sept. 20 on CBS.
The report points out that the network that airs the awards show often picks one of its own as ringmaster, then gets the academy to rubber stamp the choice.
In June, Harris earned strong reviews after emceeing the Tony Awards for CBS. And in April, he hosted the TV Land Awards for that cable network, also owned by CBS parent company Viacom.
For his role on "How I Met Your Mother," Harris has contended for two Emmy Awards, losing the supporting race both times to Jeremy Piven of "Entourage."
