Bourbon-ballsHere’s the recipe for the Bourbon Balls on Jeff and Jenn this morning. I’m also making them (and a bunch of other chocolatey treats) at the Junior League Tour of Kitchens this Saturday.

I used Scharffen Berger Cocoa Powder in the bourbon balls. It’s amazing how much depth of flavor it adds. You can find Scharffen Berger Chocolates at a mini boutique right outside the Apple store at Kenwood Mall.

Spiked Pumpkin Pie Cider

This fabulous Halloween cocktail recipe is just in time for Thanksgiving, too! Fresh apple cider mixes beautifully with Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka. A splash of my favorite Detroit soda, Vernor’s Ginger Ale, makes it refreshing and light. And because you can never underestimate the power of a great garnish,  complete each cocktail with a lemon twist wrapped cinnamon stick. Boo-tiful! Cheers!

Lasagna Bolognese

This is not my “usual”  lasagna. I only make it when I crave something creamy, gentle, comforting and a wee bit decadent.

After assembling a fairly classic lasagna  made with an easy (not terribly authentic) bolognese,  envelop the entire lasagna with a Parmesan-laced béchamel sauce.

When you need a meal that takes care of more than filling one’s belly, try this.
