Cincinnati native Brian Douglas has been on air with Q for 25 years, living out the dream he’s had for as long as he can remember – to live in his hometown and “work at one of the greatest radio stations in America!” When he’s in the studio, his MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone are never far away, and neither is his amazing partner Laura Powell!
Brian’s three kids are the loves of his life, although his involvement with charities and organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, WAVE Foundation and many others is close behind. Laura agrees – “The Light The Night Walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society makes me cry every year,” she says. She and Brian both cite The Q102 Bosom Ball for Breast Cancer as one of their favorite station events and a great display of unity.
When she’s not in the studio, you’ll find Laura spending time at her local Kroger, T.J. Maxx and Kohl’s, and of course enjoying her beautiful family. Brian is an avid photographer, a certified scuba diver and loves heading down to The Banks for all the excitement happening at The Holy Grail, Crave, Moerlein Lager House and more!
We had a great time last night’s Zootini event at the Cincinnati Zoo. We met a lot of great people including Ginnie who sent us this picture.

We couldn’t be prouder of Walk the Moon. The band is doing a tour of Europe opening for P!nk and today posted that are going to be on the Iron Man 3 soundtrack! The guys posted the following on FB earlier this afternoon:
“Hey everybody- we are proud to announce that WALK THE MOON will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming IRON MAN 3 film!! We wrote a brand new song entitled “Big Bad Wolves” specifically for the movie. The soundtrack includes tracks by artists such as Imagine Dragons, Passion Pit, and AWOLNATION as well as yours truly.”
Last March I was lucky to spend sometime in NYC previewing the current Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati series. I had a chance to check out “War Horse.” I interviewed puppeteer Matt Acheson about how the incredible Horses/Puppets come to life on stage.

Comedian Josh Sneed and Nick Lachey collaborated recently by recording a fun Red’s Opening Day mantra called “Dusty Please Win!” You’ll be laughing and singing along. It is available for download for only $1 at www.cincyshirts.com/dusty All proceeds benefit the Red’s Community Fund.
Actor Dax Shepard of Parenthood recently blogged about his father losing his battle with cancer in December. He mentioned that, to his surprise, his pregnant love Kristen Bell allowed his dying father the opportunity to meet his grandchild. Below is his description. Will bring you to tears.

“At one point, and unbeknownst to both of us, my wife walked into the room. She had flown in from LA without any warning. It was a surprise. It was an amazing, incredible, perfectly timed surprise. She lifted her shirt up and he put his hand on her swollen stomach. He left it there for the better part of an hour. He was smiling from ear to ear, sitting contently, unable to put together a sentence, but still capable of connecting to the new family member we were creating. He wasn’t going to make it to the birth, but that didn’t get in the way of him meeting the new baby. It was an emotional and triumphant moment. One I will never forget. If I live to be a thousand, I will still be in debt to my wife for giving him that one last thrill.”

Starting Saturday, you can see more Shark Rays on display than anywhere else in the world in Newport Aquarium’s Surrounded By Sharks Exhibit! Extremely rare Shark Rays Sweet Pea, Scooter, Sunshine and Spike will win you over with their human-like eyes, and breathtaking grace.
The name Shark Ray, (Rhina ancylostoma), alludes to its appearance. The front section is broad like a ray with prehistoric ridges along the head, while the back section resembles a shark with dual dorsal fins.
Meet the Shark Rays on display in the Surrounded By Sharks Exhibit:
Sweet Pea – In 2005, Newport Aquarium made history by becoming the first aquarium in the Western Hemisphere to display their first Shark Ray, Sweet Pea.
Scooter – Added in 2007, to create the world’s first Shark Ray Breeding Program.
Sunshine – Arrived at Newport Aquarium in 2009, and was on display in our Coral Reef Exhibit before transferring to the Aquarium’s off-site research holding facility. She has now joined the rest of the Shark Ray group in the Surrounded By Sharks Exhibit.
Spike – The newest member of the Shark Ray group. He weighs just over 200 pounds and is the second male added to the group.
