Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts opened as a four-point favorite to beat New Orleans in Super Bowl XLIV, according to oddsmaker Sean Van Patten of Las Vegas Sports Consultants, which provides betting lines for roughly 90 percent of sports books in Nevada.
Patten says oddsmakers like that Indianapolis has succeeded against two top NFL defenses in consecutive games.
The Colts beat the New York Jets 30-17 Sunday in the AFC championship game.
New Orleans outlasted Minnesota 31-28 in overtime in the NFC title game on Sunday night.
It's the first time since 1993 that No. 1 seeds from each conference have reached the Super Bowl.
