"American Idol" alum Chikezie Eze has been arrested and booked on felony identity theft, according to police.
The Season 7 finalist was arrested Thursday night at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills after he was accused of identity theft while making a purchase, officials said.
The 24-year-old Eze was trying to buy two bottles of cologne with a never-before-used credit card when the salesperson flagged it for having something "untrue" on the application, Eze told TMZ.com.
The Web site later reported that the store flagged the credit card as "stolen."
Store security detained him until police arrived shortly before 9:30 p.m. to take him into custody at the Beverly Hills Police Department.
The singer was released early Friday morning after posting $50,000 bail.
"I haven't done anything wrong myself and I'm pretty confident nothing is going to happen," he told TMZ.
His next court date is March 1.
