Maroon 5 will be releasing their third studio album called Hands All Over on Tuesday, September 21. This Los Angeles- based band recently released the single “Misery,” which so far has peaked at No. 11 on Billboard’s Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks.
Before they were Maroon 5, they were a band called Kara’s Flowers, which was formed in 1995 and they released one album in 1997 called The Fourth World. The original band members from Kara’s Flowers (vocals and guitarist Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick) added guitarist James Valentine, changing direction and renamed themselves as Maroon 5 in 2001.
Songs About Jane was their debut album which was released in 2002 and had four hit singles: “Harder to Breathe”, “This Love”, “She Will Be Loved” and “Sunday Morning.” After a breakout success, Maroon 5 toured for the next two years and released two live albums. In 2006, their drummer decided to leave the band due to injuries from touring and was replaced by Matt Flynn.
In 2007, Maroon 5 released their second studio album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. Singles from this album included “Makes Me Wonder”, “Won’t Go Home Without You”, “Wake Up Call”, “If I Never See Your Face Again” and “Goodnight Goodnight.”
Maroon 5 then released Call And Response: The Remix Album which has 18 tracks. Also in 2008, Maroon 5 released another two live albums.
The next studio album already has a hit single, and most likely many more to follow. Maroon 5 is unstoppable and seems to keep getting better. The band is currently on tour and you can see them perform live in Dayton at the Fifth Third Field on Tuesday, August 31. Get your tickets here.
