A storm is brewing in pop-star paradise, as Katy Perry is unhappy with Lady Gaga’s music video for her song ‘Alejandro.’ In the video, Lady Gaga is seen dressed as a nun, putting a rosary into her mouth and is later seen with an upside down crucifix over her crotch. According to Katy Perry, that sort of behavior is blasphemous and should never be tolerated.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Katy said, “I am sensitive to Russell taking the Lord’s name in vain and to Lady Gaga putting a rosary in her mouth. I think when you put sex and spirituality in the same bottle and shake it up, bad things happen. Yes, I said I kissed a girl, but I didn’t say I kissed a girl while f***ing a crucifix.”
Both of 25-year-old Katy Perry’s parents are Christian pastors and Katy doesn’t appreciate any sort of religious bashing. Katy took to her Twitter account to say, “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.” Since the tweet was written the same day Lady Gaga’s video was released, it was obvious who Perry was talking about, even though she’s never mentioned Gaga’s name.

Katy isn’t the only one up who has been rubbed the wrong way; many Catholic organizations, like the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, have made statements opposing the video, saying, “Lady Gaga is playing Madonna copy cat, squirming around half-naked with half-naked guys, abusing Catholic symbols—they’re always Catholic symbols—while bleating out “Alejandro” enough times to induce vomit.”
Gaga hasn’t released any statements about the feud and Perry has said that she doesn’t have any animosity towards her fellow pop star, saying, “It’s just that, like, of course, some people have different viewpoints.”
