George Clooney is the ultimate bachelor. At 49, Clooney has dated several gorgeous women, but has always managed to dodge tying the knot. So when Clooney's girlfriend, 31-year-old Italian television presenter Elisabetta Canalis was seen wearing a hunk of bling on her ring finger last weekend, it caused an uproar of speculation.
The engagement rumors started when Elisabetta was spotted flashing a large diamond ring to photographers while enjoying dinner with Clooney and some friends. The flurry of media attention that followed prompted Clooney to quickly debunk the rumors. According to People, Clooney's rep called and said that the bling on Elisabetta's finger was actually one of the restaurant's napkin rings! Yeah... right.
Although the couple aren't engaged, they insist their relationship is stronger than ever. This also isn't the first time they've been the subject of relationship gossip. Last spring it was rumored that they had split up, when they hadn't according to Clooney himself.
