The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

Missed this year's Emmys? Don't worry - all you need to know about the award show is here.

August 30, 2010, 5:30 p.m.

The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards show pulled a few surprises on its viewers, while it also had some not-so-surprising winners. Modern Family  took home six Emmys - the most out of any broadcast television show. Meanwhile Glee, which was nominated for many of the same categories, only won two Emmys. Top Chef  won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show Competition, which had been dominated by The Amazing Race for the past seven years. After the season finale of Lost, fans hoped that the show would win several Emmys, but it took home only one for Outstanding Picture Editing. And the night's most surprising win-- even the recipient was unsuspecting-- was Jim Parsons for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy. The night's least surprising moment was when The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won its seventh Emmy award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. Winning an Emmy for the seventh time must be extremely dull considering Jon Stewart didn't even show up to accept his award.

The show started off with a funny sketch starring Jimmy Fallon and several stars from hit television series where they sang and danced to "Born to Run." Jimmy Fallon proved to be a funny and entertaining host for the evening. He sang with many different stars to help him announce each category and performed a comedic, three-song tribute to the shows we lost this year: Lost, 24 and Law & Order.

Red carpet fashion is always one of the most exciting and most talked about parts of the Emmys. A best dressed of the night was Lea Michele in a midnight blue, mermaid-style gown made by her favorite designer, Oscar de la Renta. Another was Kim Kardashian in a white, halter Marchesa gown that made her look like a goddess. Heidi Klum, host of Project Runway, made a major fashion misstep on the red carpet in a tight minidress by Marchesa. But even worse than Klum, was Anna Paquin in an avant garde Alexander McQueen gown that was just plain hideous. While the best and worst dressed can be debated, the Emmy winners cannot. Check out a complete list of winners below.
