So, what is Angelman Syndrome?

It’s a genetic disorder causing developmental disabilities and nerve-related symptoms. AS usually isn’t detected until developmental delays become noticeable, usually when a baby is about six to 12 months old. Symptoms include lack of crawling or babbling, minimal speech, and frequent smiling and laughter. Inability to walk, move, or balance well (ataxia) is also a symptom.

Penny’s daughter, Madonna, was diagnosed with AS at a very young age. She is now 14 years old, loves to smile, hug her mama, meet new people and jam out to MUSIC!! 🙂

Every year on the third Saturday in May, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation hosts a walk downtown to help raise money for research and support. If you were unable to make it to the walk this year – It’s okay! You can still donate!! They will be collecting donations until the end of September.
