Spreading Good Vibes at Northgate Mall’s Back to School Health and Safety Fair

Northwest Local School District (NWLSD) is partnering with Northgate Mall to host our 11th Annual Back-to-School Health and Safety Fair for all Preschool through 12th grade students at Northgate Mall on Wednesday, August 11, from 9 a.m. until Noon. The Health and Safety Fair was created as an opportunity for the district to connect families with outside community services, free school supplies, free haircuts, hygiene kits, as well as a variety of health screenings.

This year, a number of community oganizations have signed up to provide lunch, activities and games for students and families. Student haircuts and health screenings will be performed by Empire Beauty School and The Healthcare Connection.  The Colerain Police Department has volunteered to host cornhole games in order to strengthen its relationship with students; the YWCA and the YMCA will be hosting a community restorative circle to teach families coping skills; the Freestore Foodbank and the Mt. Healthy Food Alliance, will be providing meal kits filled with non-perishable-food items for families in need; and local businesses will be on site offering on-the-spot interviews for parents and high school students. Participants can also expect to see performances from Colerain and Northwest High School cheerleaders and marching bands, demonstrations on bus safety from the NWLSD transportation department, vendor tables where they can learn about various community services and supports, as well as have access to door prizes and raffle giveaways.
