February 24, 2010…Cryin on the Closet Floor…

Wkrqfallback2

We’re in the middle of Jakob’s 4th run at the Sensory Learning Program (link below for details). Part of the program requires us sitting in a small dark room looking at a light for 20 minutes, two times a day.

Usually, Jakob just sits beside me. Sometimes we sing but for the most part we just hang. Last night, he sat next to me and put his arm around my shoulder. He put his hands on my cheeks and turned me to face him. Then he says, “mom” so sweetly and gives me a kiss.

Another first. A fabulous first. Doesn’t get much better than that.

For our remaining time on the closet floor, he kept one arm around my shoulder, occasionally giving me a big hug. And every couple minutes he’d just lean over and plant one on my cheek.

He’s a keeper…
