Today on Give Back Tuesday we spotlighted a local charity doing something pretty amazing…. Building and donating homes to homeless Veterans.
Glenn Grootegoed and his wife, who is also in the service, started Warrior Homesteads six years ago.
They have one mission: Give homeless Veterans sustainable housing on farmable land.
Many soldiers return home from war mentally and/or physically anguished, unprepared to fully re-enter society. A return to civilian life and its unending demands can seem insurmountable. Self-sustainability allows Veterans time to adjust without the pressure of everyday expenses. Their houses are passionately designed to be more than just a shelter from the elements. They are designed to be a home, a respite from the worries of living without.
This Saturday, June 15th, Glenn and his wife will be gifting a tiny home to a Veteran before the start of the Honoring Our Heroes 5k at Lunken Airport.
Thanks to generous sponsors like Kroger, R Investments, Deer Park Roofing and many others, Glenn was able to build a tiny home for a Veteran in need and he is completely overjoyed.
All are welcome at this event!
Thank you, Glenn, for helping our Veterans!
