I had way too much fun on today’s show with Kathy from Kenzie’s Closet!
We were also joined by Q102’s own Natalie Jones! Nat was a close friend of Kenzie’s in high school and was so excited to come in and share some stories about her! And of course…. play her favorite jams 🙂
So, who was Kenzie?
Kenzie Comisar was like any 17 year old girl. She was carefree, enjoying life, and looking forward to her senior year in high school.
Tragically, she lost her life in a car accident on her way to a friend’s house in 2002, a week before her senior year. She never got to go to her senior prom.
Brynne Coletti, the founder of this organization, was in the final stages of completing her newly formed non-profit when Kenzie passed away. Brynne approached Kenzie’s family and asked if they would be okay with her naming her non-profit “Kenzie’s Closet” in memory of Kenzie. They were thrilled and honored by this gesture and their mission to help young ladies with a current financial need to be able to attend their dream prom night.
Every year they celebrate Kenzie Comisar when they open their doors for “shopping season” at Kenzie’s Closet. As every dress walks out the door they are remembering what life is all about and what Kenzie believed in…
“Every girl should feel like a princess on her prom night.”
Kenzie’s Closet works with local retailers to purchase gowns as cost-effectively as possible.
